John "Jack" B. Jaynes papers, 1906-1985 1918-1960.

Documents, correspondence, newsletters, memoranda, clippings, reports, pamphlets, minutes, records, photographs, ephemera, and other materials. The personal papers of John "Jack" B. Jaynes's document his military career from 1917-1970 as a pilot in World War I and as an operations officer in World War II as well as commanding Officer of the 446th Bomb Group at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth. The bulk of his papers reflect on his civil career as an airline inspector for the FAA and its predecessors from 1929 until the mid 1960s. In conjunction with Dr. Fred D. Fagg Jr., Director Bureau of Air Commerce, and others, he participated in drafting the original Civil Air regulations. The photographs, 1918-1982, and the clippings, 1906-1981, well support the documents in depicting his life and career.
